Richard R. Flanigan

Richard R. Flanigan, affectionately known as "Dick," was born on June 21, 1951, in Toledo, Ohio. He passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, in his hometown, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and dedication that will long be remembered by all who knew him.

Richard had a fulfilling career in Fuel Transportation, dedicating over 20 years to this field where he was known for his hardworking nature and friendly demeanor. His upbeat personality shone brightly in all aspects of his life. A proud alumnus of St. Francis de Sales High School, class of 1969, Richard also pursued further education at the University of Toledo, earning a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. This educational background set the foundation for a successful career and a life dedicated to service.

Above all, Richard cherished his role as an uncle and took immense pride in following the sports endeavors of his nieces and nephews. He was a staunch supporter, always present at their games and activities, cheering them on with an infectious enthusiasm that endeared him to many. Richard's love for his family extended beyond just his immediate relatives; he had a great affection for his many great nieces, great nephews, and extended family, nurturing bonds that would last a lifetime.

In his personal life, Richard enjoyed a variety of hobbies. He was an avid golfer, boater, and fisherman, often spending weekends immersed in nature. A huge Notre Dame football fan, he was known to follow the team zealously, sharing his passion with those around him.

Richard is survived by his loving siblings, James (Teri) and Cathy (Joe), as well as his cherished nieces and nephews, Pat, Michelle (Jon), Alan (Nicole), Amy (Derick), and Joe. His passing is mourned deeply by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Rosemary Flanigan, and his nephew, Jimmy, who will forever remain in the hearts of those he left behind.

A Memorial Gathering in honor of Richard R. Flanigan will be held on December 27, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Newcomer Funeral Home in Northwest Toledo, located at 4150 W Laskey Rd, Toledo, OH 43623. Richard's memory will be cherished, and his spirit will live on through the countless lives he touched throughout his journey.
