Richard "Dick" Kuras, born on April 13, 1939, in Holland, OH, departed this world on May 27, 2025, in Perrysburg, OH, leaving behind a legacy filled with love, dedication, and cherished memories. After a life devoted to family and country, Dick will be remembered as a hardworking man who had a profound love for both his family and his nation.
Dick served honorably in the Army from October 22, 1962, to October 23, 1964, during his time stationed in Korea. His commitment to serving his country continued well beyond his military years, as he later became a valued member of American Legion Post 0468. After his service, he built a commendable career as a Maintenance Mechanic, eventually retiring from the Ohio Turnpike, where his work ethic and dedication were well recognized.
One of the proudest accomplishments in Dick’s life was the family he built with his loving wife, Mary. They celebrated a beautiful bond over 60 years of marriage, their anniversary marking a significant foundation of love that started on May 15, 1965. The couple raised three children together: daughters Kelly (John) and Stacy Kuras, and son Richard (Sophie Bistri) Kuras. His pride extended to his grandchildren, Emerson and Bergan, who brought him immense joy and fulfillment.
Beyond his family, Dick's passions revealed a man full of life and enjoyment. He was a lover of polka music, proud of his Polish heritage, and found happiness in traveling, gambling, and a strong appreciation of trains. When he wasn't busy with these interests, he embraced the great outdoors and spent time gardening—each hobby reflecting his vibrant spirit and love for life.
Dick's departure is felt deeply by those he leaves behind. He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary, and their children and grandchildren, sources of pride and love throughout his life. He joins in rest with his beloved parents, Edmund and Bernice Kuras, along with his cherished siblings: brothers Gilbert (Lelah), Clifford (Mary), Ray (Janet) Kuras, and sister Geraldine (Richard) Billings, who preceded him in death.
Dick's life was a tapestry woven with hard work, deep familial love, and numerous joyous memories that will be cherished by all who knew him.
