Richard Louis Despoth, Sr.

February 18, 1936 – November 17, 2024

 Richard Louis Despoth, Sr. passed away peacefully, November 17,2024. He left our arms forever to be with his Heavenly Father. He spent his last few days surrounded by family. 

Richard was born on February 18,1936 in Barberton Ohio to Louis (“Luke”) and Elizabeth (Horvath) Despoth.

He grew up in Barberton, Ohio. He met the love of his life at Manners Big Boy, and they were wed soon after and were married nearly 57 years. God truly blessed their marriage with a loving family.

In his youth he worked at a Mink Farm with family then moved on to work at The B &C Machine Company, Terex Corporation and retired from General Motors as a Supervisor of Production at Hydromantic in Toledo Ohio. Richard was also a parishioner of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.

Richard was also preceded in death by his parents Luke and Elizabeth Despoth, his brother Michael Despoth, his loving wife, Janet Despoth and his grandson Luke Despoth. He is survived by his sister Eleanor Myers, his sons, Richard (Debby) Despoth, Jr., Mark (Rhonda) Despoth, Timothy (Mary) Despoth and his daughters, Julie (Kurt) Carr and Cindy Gwin; grandchildren, Mark (Emily) Despoth, Matthew (Veronica) Despoth, Hailey (Jonathon) Stevenson, Whitney (Cory) Potter, Isaiah (Baileigh) Despoth, Steven (Taylor) Despoth, Michael Despoth, David (Kasey) Despoth and Christopher (Rachael) Despoth; great grandchildren, James & Lily Despoth, Bronwyn & Wells Despoth, Caiden & Sylvie Potter, Vaiden Stevenson and Morgan Despoth.

A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, December 7, 2024, 10:00 a.m. at St. Hilary Church, 2750 West Market Street, Fairlawn, OH 44333. Burial will follow immediately after the Mass at Holy Cross Cemetery, 100 E. Waterloo Road, Akron, OH 44319.
