Richard Barton, born on August 3, 1938, in Toledo, Ohio, left this world on February 24, 2026, in Canton, Michigan. He was a beloved figure known for his dedication to family, community, and service.

Richard's career spanned various roles, showcasing his ability to adapt and thrive in different environments. He served as a supervisor at Dura Corporation, where he was respected for his leadership and skills. Additionally, he worked for Brinks Security, exemplifying his commitment to safety and security within the community. Richard also took pride in his role as a School Bus Driver for Headstart Toledo Schools, impacting the lives of many young children during their formative years.

His military service is commendable, having joined the U.S. Army as a Sergeant on October 24, 1961, and receiving an honorable discharge on September 30, 1967. He was stationed at Fort Knox in Kentucky, where he served diligently.

Richard was a proud graduate of Sylvania Burnham High School, Class of 1956. Beyond his professional achievements, he was deeply active in his church at Bethany Community Fellowship. His faith and community involvement were cornerstones of his life.

An avid figure skater, Richard was a member of the Bowling Green Figure Skating Club and served as vice president of the Toledo Figure Skating Club. He had a passion for fishing, finding joy and tranquility in the sport. His hobbies reflected his vibrant personality and zest for life.

Family was of utmost importance to Richard, and he cherished his time spent with his loved ones. He is survived by his son, Keith (Lee) Tushek; daughter, Lisa (Tom) Dearmond; grandson, Brandon (Jane) Tushek and granddaughters, Amanda (Mark) Blankenship, Jessica Dearmond and Faith (Troy) Dearmond. He also had the joy of welcoming great-grandchildren Becham and Camden Blankenship into his family. Richard is also remembered by his brothers, Lawrence (Barbara) Barton and James (Peggy) Barton.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Cleotis and Thelma Barton, who blessed him with a foundation of love and values that he carried throughout his life.

In the final years of his life, Richard received excellent care from Kingsley Senior Living in Canton, Michigan; Aster House in Canton, Michigan; and Residential Hospice of Michigan, for which his family is profoundly grateful. They remember him lovingly as "Mr. Wonderful," a testament to the warmth and kindness he shared with those around him.

A visitation will be held on March 4, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest Toledo. A wake will be held on March 5,2026 beginning at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service starting at 11:00 AM, followed with a burial at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.

Richard Barton will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and cherished memories.
