Jasper, MI

Rebecca L. Ott, a beloved figure in her community and a cherished matriarch, passed away on June 7, 2025, in Adrian, Michigan. Born on May 13, 1959, in Toledo, Ohio, Rebecca was the embodiment of kindness and generosity, dedicating her life to the care of her family and friends.

Throughout her life, Rebecca was known for her easy-going personality and her ability to connect with everyone around her. Her nurturing spirit was evident in her commitment to her family, where she was actively involved in her children’s lives and their growth, providing support and encouragement every step of the way. She took great joy in spending time with her beloved grandchildren—Briella, Isla, Emmalyn, Raelyn, and Pierce—creating lasting memories through baking her famous banana bread, which garnered several ribbons at the Fulton County Fair over the years.

Rebecca's passion extended beyond her family to her community, where she was an avid volunteer. She was deeply involved with the Metamora Community, managing the Arbors for Gleaner Life Insurance Society for a time. Her love for giving back was an integral part of who she was, showcasing her desire to make a difference in the lives of those around her.

A lover of flowers and a keen photographer, Rebecca also treasured quiet moments spent reading and enjoying tea with her mother, Marie Garlick, and friends. These shared social occasions were a testament to her belief in the power of connection, bringing light and joy to both herself and her loved ones.

Rebecca is survived by her loving husband, Martin Ott, with whom she shared 45 wonderful years of marriage, along with their children Owen Ott and his wife Brittney, and Olivia Ott. She leaves behind her mother, Marie Garlick; sister Suzanne Batridge; brother Stephen Garlick and his wife Marcie; as well as several cherished nephews: Randall Batridge and his wife Jessica, Peter Batridge, Nolan Garlick, Curt Root and his wife Sara, and Jonas Root and wife Caitlin and a host of other extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Garlick, her sister Roxanne Root, and her daughter Cora Ott.
