Raymond Paul Cherry, known affectionately to many as "Crazy Ray," passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, in Sylvania, Ohio. Born on November 17, 1961, in Toledo, Ohio, Raymond's life was marked by an extraordinary passion for mechanics and a fiercely loving personality that left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Raymond was a man of remarkable skill and dedication, often described as a car Einstein for his uncanny ability to work on anything that could be wrenched. His hands and mind were always engaged in understanding and perfecting the machines he loved. This talent was not just a profession but a profound calling through which he worked tirelessly, building a life defined by hard work and perseverance.
Beyond his mechanical genius, Raymond was a devoted family man whose heart belonged equally to his loved ones and his Harley. He cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, finding joy and vitality in their company. His passion for riding his Harley was well-known; those close to him often said that if he could have, he would have happily slept beside it. This love of the open road was emblematic of his free spirit and zest for life.
Raymond is survived by his beloved sons, Kevin Hubbell, Michael (Josey) Taylor and his mother Elizabeth Taylor, and Parker Cherry along with his mother and sister, Jeanette Hamernik and Alannah. His grandchildren, Rayella, Blake, and Dezirae, carry on his vibrant legacy of family and love. By his side throughout his journey was his significant other, Annette Prats, and her family. "Love you Wilma with all my heart. Love you, Frankie."
He also leaves behind a cherished circle of siblings: Jeanne Cherry Haddix, Debbie (Bob) Bogart, George Lehman, Lori Lehman, Delores Lehman and Marinda Hahn. His nieces, Nikki, Demarie, Brittany, and Stephanie, as well as nephews Kyle, Sean, Logan, Robert, and Brad remember him with admiration and affection.
Raymond was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Irene Lehman, grandson Dominick Hubbell, brother Robert "Bobby" Cherry, sister Cindy Lewis and Kevin’s mother Diane Moses. Their memories are deeply woven into the fabric of his life and the stories shared by those who loved him.
Raymond Paul Cherry's life was one of passion, perseverance, and unwavering love. His mechanical brilliance was matched only by his warmth and dedication to his family. His legacy will endure in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him, and in the echoes of his laughter and the hum of his Harley on the open road.
