R. Russell Stratton of Maumee, Ohio passed away at The Lakes of Monclova on May 17, 2025

Russ was born May 20,1941 in Binghamton New York to Russell and Marjorie Stratton. He attended Holy Cross University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in economics. He went on to enjoy a successful career in the field of investment casting manufacturing. During this time, he traveled extensively to the Far East launching the openings of multiple tool steel foundries in various countries. This experience led him to develop an intense affinity for the Japanese culture.

Russ was a natural entrepreneur with multiple interests. Retiring early, he pursued his life-long passion for oil painting. He was a gifted artist and had the privilege of having a piece of his artwork displayed in the Toledo Museum of Art. He also wrote and published a series of fantasy children’s books.

Throughout his life, Russ was the family member who stepped in when someone was in need. He was a generous man who gave selflessly to those less fortunate. He believed in giving without expectation. He cherished his family and was a favorite among his grandchildren. His youthful soul encouraged their free-spirit, open curiosity, and natural affinity to learn.

Russ was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ruth Palumbo, and sisters-in-law Sheila Itil and Vicki Diekmann. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda, children Rhonda Stratton (Joe), Russ Stratton III (Johanna), Rochelle Persson (Per Magnus), and Nicole Foley (Lisa), grandchildren Drew Pennington, Cassidy Hyatt, and Gabrielle Hyatt, brother Randy Stratton (Janet), sister Roxanne Gennari, multiple nieces and nephews, and his lifetime friend Paul Onody.

Honoring Russ’ wishes, there will be no funeral. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
