Phillip Pietras, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on January 5, 1943, in Toledo, Ohio, Phillip lived a life that was characterized by love, laughter, and a steadfast dedication to both his family and his career.

Phillip was the proud owner and operator of Pietras Welding and Mechanical Repair, a business he built and nurtured from 1974 until his retirement in 2016. His commitment to excellence and craftsmanship left a lasting impression on many in the community. Among those who worked alongside him was longtime employee Bruce MacKay, whose camaraderie and respect for Phillip defined their professional relationship.

Known for his fabulous sense of humor and unforgettable grin, Phillip brought joy to countless lives. His passion for life was evident not just in his work but also in the hobbies he pursued with enthusiasm. He loved all seasons, whether it was snowmobiling or motorcycle riding with his great friend Wayne Cook, or spending leisurely hours on the golf course with close friend Bill Houttekier. In his later years, Phillip found great happiness in evenings spent with cousins and family at the Village Players, enjoying dinner and engaging plays that filled their hearts with laughter.

He was especially grateful for his personal trainer, Marco Iagulli, who made a tremendous impact on his life by helping him manage and overcome many of the challenges of Parkinson’s disease.

Phillip and his wife, Nancy, traveled all over the world. After their marriage, they made a vow to take a trip every five years to celebrate their anniversary—a tradition that grew more special and extravagant with each passing year. Their adventures took them from Alaska to Australia and across much of Europe. On their 25th anniversary, they renewed their wedding vows during a cruise to Hawaii, creating memories they cherished forever. For their 50th anniversary, they traveled to France, where they visited the historic World War II beaches of Normandy, explored the beauty of Paris, and enjoyed a cruise to Lyon. Of all their journeys, Phillip’s favorite was their memorable trip to the Panama Canal.

Phillip was married to his devoted wife, Nancy, for 53 wonderful years. Together, they cultivated a loving and supportive environment that was a source of strength for their family. Phillip is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy; daughters Melanie Bacca and her husband James Carson, and Jennifer Pietras-Jones; grandchildren Connor Bacca, Robin Bacca, Corey Michaels, and Joey Michaels; siblings Jack Pietras and Monica Growden; as well as a host of close cousins, including Lynette Aseltyne, James (Gina) Pietras, Amy (Joe) Carroll, and Diane (Tim) Porter, and numerous extended family members and friends.

He is predeceased by his parents, Leon and Pauline Pietras, and siblings Leonard Pietras, Patricia (George) Jenkins, and Daniel Pietras, all of whom will be remembered fondly.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor the remarkable legacy Phillip leaves behind—a legacy defined by love, hard work, and a vibrant spirit that will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. Phillip Pietras will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
