Peggy Anne Mortemore (Turney)

Peggy Mortemore, age 89, of Perrysburg passed away peacefully while in the presence of loving family on October 9, 2025 after a long period of steady health decline. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 16, 1936 to parents Merle and Clella Turney. She had a sister, Shirley.

Peggy attended DeVilbiss High School graduating in 1953. During her youth, she loved to perform ballet. She married Gary Mortemore in 1955 and had four children, Larry, Dan, Carrie, and Scott. She and Gary divorced in 1968.

Peggy worked hard to support her family as a single mother. She worked for many years as an audit clerk for Sears. She continued at Sears working in the hearing aid department. She also worked at Mitchell’s Clock Shop and for the Sheraton Hotel.

Peggy had many friends throughout her life, including those with whom she worked, and those she met at Harbor Town in Perrysburg after her retirement. She had very fond memories of her dog Dollie whom she loved dearly. She also had an affection for owls and had a vast collection of owl figurines.

Peggy was proceeded in death by her mother, father, sister, and ex-husband. She is survived by her children Larry (Mary Ann) Mortemore, Dan (Katie) Mortemore, Carrie (Brett) Brumbaugh, and G Scott (Denise) Mortemore; Grandchildren Jen Nowakowski, Justin (Angela) Mortemore, Kirk (Maleigha) Mortemore, Corey Mortemore, Kendall Mortemore, Deidre (Brian) Anderson, Natalie (Jay) Musser, Zachary (Oliva) Brumbaugh, Matthew (Julia Lakin) Brumbaugh, Hunter (Madison) Mortemore, Renee Mortemore, and Katie Mortemore; Great Grandchildren Liam Nowakowski, Isla Nowakowski, Layla Littin, Stella Mortemore, Asher Mortemore, Luke Carpenter, Ellie Anderson, Dean Anderson, Dora Anderson, Jordan Musser, Paige Musser, Blaire Brumbaugh, Hudson Brumbaugh, Tucker Brumbaugh, Millie Brumbaugh, and Wyatt Mortemore.

Family and Friends will be received at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio on Monday October 20, 2025 from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM. The service will immediately follow at 1:00 PM, followed by interment at Ottawa Hills Cemetery on Central Avenue.
