Paul R Stresen, 70, of Toledo, Ohio passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 21, 2026.
Born in Toledo on June 5, 1955 to parents Sarafine and Helen (Menke) Stresen, Paul was the only brother to three sisters. He was a 1973 graduate of Central Catholic High School and a University of Toledo alumnus, Class of 1977, where he also served as president of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. In 2019, he retired from a long and dedicated career at Thermodyn Corp.
Paul was a devoted father and husband who prioritized family time and traditions. He spent many Sundays with his wife, Karen (O’Brien), antiquing and estate sale hunting, always seeking another vintage radio for his collection. Above all, Paul loved spending time with his son, Aaron: from helping coach his school sports teams, to their collaborative coaching of the Green Bay Packers from the comfort of their couch during football season.
Paul will be remembered as a loyal, good-humored friend by all who knew him. He was a proud member of “Friends for Life,” a group of college friends true to their moniker. Paul was equally creative and fastidious, and possessed infinite curiosity about the world. His interests were many and varied: he was a World War II buff; a dog-lover, especially of his own dogs, Irie and Molly; a supporter of UT Rockets basketball; and an amateur astronomer. He was an avid reader and thorough researcher, and quick to share his knowledge with others. You know you were loved by Paul if you ever received a book recommendation, YouTube video, or Consumer Reports article from him.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Sarafine and Helen; sister-in-law, Marcia (O’Brien) Bays; and brother-in-law, John Bays. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Karen, and treasured son, Aaron; sisters Marie (Gordon) Ulrey, Janet (Walter) Simer, and Linda (Larry) Fioritto; nieces Amanda (Nick) Fioritto and Morgan (Andrew) Fioritto; brother-in-law, Patrick (Julia) O’Brien; and nephews Jack (Aimee) O’Brien, Jamie (Erica) O’Brien, and Kevin O’Brien.
Those wishing to celebrate Paul’s life may visit Christ the King Church on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 9:30 am for a visitation in the Narthex, followed by a memorial Mass at 10:30 am in the chapel. Donations in Paul’s memory may be sent to Hospice of Northwest Ohio
