Paul Bentley, born on May 13, 1958, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away suddenly but peacefully with his family by his side on May 23, 2025, at the University of Toledo, in Toledo, Ohio. A respected figure in his profession was the Co-Owner/Operator of Michigan Security and Lock along with Business Partner Dustin Jones, and held the title of Certified Master Locksmith, an achievement which he was immensely proud of and he absolutely loved his profession.
Paul was known for his positive demeanor; he always had a smile on his face; his laughter and kindness Paul was recognized as one of the most positive individuals around. His loving and caring nature touched the lives of many people, and he was a great mentor and teacher to countless individuals in the Security and Locksmith Industry. He was always putting others first, Paul exemplified kindness and compassion throughout his personal and professional life.
Paul is remembered dearly by his beloved and compassionate wife, Angela Bentley, with whom he shared 11+ wonderful years of marriage. Together, they created many lasting memories, including fulfilling Paul’s dream of purchasing a boat for Lake Michigan where the family spent weekends together, but Paul enjoyed his time with Angie out on Lake Michigan just enjoying their time together, but also with their boating friends. Their adventures also included traveling with family and boating, pursuits that brought them much joy.
Paul cherished his role as a father to his children, Shawna Bentley, who is engaged to Justin, Dustin Jones, who is married to Rachel Jones, and Brandon Cross. He was a proud grandfather to Nate Bentley, Sophia Jones, Hudson Jones, and Brody Jones. He made it a point to share his affection, often reminding his grandkids how much he loved them.
In addition to his immediate family, Paul is survived by his brother, Chris Bentley, and his wife Kimberley; his brother, Michael Bentley, and his wife Joan; his sister, JoAnn Kugle, and her husband David; Kevin Cross and wife Lee Cross and his mother-in-law, Wanda Myers who lives with them.
Paul was predeceased by his father, Robert Bentley; his mother, Elizabeth Bentley; and his sister, Loretta Bentley. The legacy of love and positivity he leaves behind will resonate within the hearts of those who know him.
As a man who embraced life fully, Paul loved hobbies such as boating, golfing, Bowling with grandkids, taking the kids for rides on the golf cart, watching Hudson play baseball, and watching Sophia at competitive Cheer as a Flyer, and recently discovering the rewarding pastime of fly fishing, which he deemed the best. His smile and laughter, & kindness & spirit and zest for life will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Heaven gained another angel today.
