Patricia M. "Pat" Gwozdz

Patricia M. “Pat” Gwozdz, age 78, of Swanton, Ohio, peacefully passed away at her home on September 5, 2025. She was born on February 12, 1947, in Toledo, Ohio, to Edward and Maude (Pate) Andrzejak.

Pat devoted much of her life to serving the community, beginning her career as a nurse’s aide at the young age of 14 and worked hard at various nursing homes in Lucas and Fulton Counties until the covid pandemic in 2020. Renowned for her generosity and nurturing spirit, Pat touched the lives of many, acting as a second mother to numerous individuals beyond her own children and a best friend to them all. She was also known for her competitive nature, with bingo, euchre, and Yahtzee being among her favorite games.

Pat is survived by her loving daughters, Lisa Adam and Christina “Chrissy” Adam; and her siblings, Robert L. Andrzejak, Barbara A. Simoni, Mary J. Lucio, Stella M. Karamol, and Diane L. Andrzejak, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Thomas F. Gwozdz, and her brother, Edward S. Andrzejak.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Newcomer Funeral Home (West Sylvania Chapel), located at 3655 King Rd., Toledo, on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a Rosary recited at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 6149 Hill Ave., Toledo, at 11:00 AM, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery followed by a polish luncheon at Springfield Township Hall, located at 7617 Angola Road, Holland, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Pat’s warmth and kindness will be deeply missed, but she will always remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She was truly one-of-kind, the family matriarch and legend.
