Pamela Lavon Cox, affectionately known as Pam, was born on May 11, 1951, in Toledo, Ohio, and passed away peacefully in her beloved hometown on January 17, 2026. A shining light in the lives she touched, Pam's feisty spirit, quick wit, and loving nature endeared her to all who knew her.
Pam graduated from Whitmer High School in 1969 and went on to have a fulfilling career at Ohio Citizen's Bank, The Toledo Hospital, and the Toledo Hospital Outpatient Clinic, as well as with Mary Kay Cosmetics. Her dedication to her work was matched only by her commitment to her family and community. Pam was proud to be a member of the Monroe Street United Methodist Church, where she actively participated in multiple Bible groups and was deeply involved with the Friendly Center. Her commitment to youth was evident as she served as a grand worthy advisor with the Rainbow Girls, a Girl Scout leader, and a cheerleading advisor for the DeVeaux Vikings. Pam cherished her ability to volunteer in her children's classrooms and sporting activities, supporting them and their peers with unwavering love.
Her family will forever hold dear the many cherished memories made during family gatherings, road trips, and cookouts at her home. Pam had a passion for baking delicious pies, tending to her garden, and searching for the perfect antique, all activities that brought her immense joy. She and her family created a tapestry of unforgettable moments, spending years together at Deep Lake, Daytona Beach, and Disney—a testament to her adventurous spirit and her family-first mentality.
Pam is survived by her beloved daughter Jennifer Delaney and her husband Kevin; her sons Michael K. Smith and Matthew R. Smith and his wife Katie; and her cherished granddaughters Cierra Neubert and her husband Justin, Elaina Smith, and Madison Smith. She also leaves behind her adoring grandsons Dakota Denis and his wife Keisha, Liam Delaney, Collin Smith, Conor Smith, and Mason Smith. The family is blessed with great-grandchildren Brody Neubert, Elliana Scott, Wesley Neubert, Zeno Scott, Chloe Neubert, Lillith Denis, Presley Neubert, and Lumina Denis, as well as a great-granddaughter due to arrive in February 2026, Maelle Denis. Among her surviving family members are her sisters Barbara Plentz and Nancy Kelley, along with a host of extended family members who will carry her spirit forward.
Pam was preceded in death by her second husband Richard J. Cox; her brother Robert Blossom; her sister-in-law Suzanne Blossom; her nephew Anthony Demecs; and her beloved parents Raymond and Leota Blossom. The love and memories shared with these dear ones remain in the hearts of those she left behind.
A visitation to celebrate Pam's life will take place on January 25, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home in Northwest Toledo, with a funeral service scheduled for January 26, 2026, at 11:00 AM, followed by a graveside service at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park beginning at 12:15 PM.
Pamela Lavon Cox will be remembered for her vibrant personality, her fierce independence, and her unwavering dedication to family and community. Her legacy is one of love, laughter, and a life well-lived, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
