Ora McNeal, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on September 6, 2025, in Toledo, Ohio. Born on July 31, 1945, in Drew, Mississippi, Ora led a life filled with love, dedication, and a spirit that touched everyone around her.
A devoted and hard-working individual, Ora balanced her many roles with grace and determination. She attended Stautzenberger College, where she began her journey of learning and personal growth. Her character was one of strength; she was a loving mother who cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. Though she was undoubtedly a handful, those who knew her understood that her vibrant personality was part of what made her so special.
As an ordained minister, Ora embraced her spiritual calling and devoted herself to the care of others. Her heart of gold and nurturing nature often led her to help those in need. She was known for being a lifelong caregiver, always putting others before herself. Her generosity knew no bounds, and her compassion left an indelible mark on all who crossed her path.
Ora's legacy lives on through her children, James D. (Mindi) Lightner, John D. (Karla Adams) Lightner, Jamie D. Lee, and Zannie D. Dixon. Her grandchildren, Dujuan Brandham, Tomy'ia Fryson, Reggie Fench, Max Dixon, Lillian Dixon, Samyera Quaimari-Lightner, Amir Quaimari-Lightner, and Julian D. Lightner will carry forth her spirit in their lives. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, who were so fortunate to know her love and wisdom.
She is now reunited with her parents, Amos and Nequilla Lee, and her great-granddaughter, Caralisha Dixon. Ora is also predeceased by six siblings who preceded her in life. She leaves behind her loving siblings, Jeanette Miller, Nequilla Hayes, Alice Gumtow, Thomas Lee, and Howard Lee, reminding us of the deep family bonds she fostered throughout her life.
Ora McNeal’s life was a testament to the power of unconditional love, hard work, and the importance of family. She will be profoundly missed, and her beautiful spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
