Norma "Candy" Belanga

September 12, 1950 — May 8, 2025

Temperance, MI

Norma "Candy" Belanga, a cherished homemaker and beloved member of the Toledo community, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2025, at the age of 74 surrounded by her four children and sister Dawn, leaving behind a legacy filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Born on September 12, 1950, in Toledo, Ohio, Candy was known not just for her warm spirit but also for her extraordinary knack for making those around her feel valued and loved.

Having completed her education at Whitmer High School, Candy's journey led her to Kalamazoo for college, where she met her soulmate, Ronnie. They embarked on their beautiful voyage together, marrying on August 1, 1970, and spending their lives in Toledo, surrounded by family and friends. Their marriage was the embodiment of unconditional love and devotion, flourishing through the challenges and joys of life. Just eleven months before her passing, Candy had to say goodbye to Ronnie, but now they find solace together once more.

As a dedicated homemaker, Candy radiated kindness and warmth. Her passion for shopping was legendary; whether strolling through the aisles of Walmart or hunting for bargains at Costco, she had an uncanny ability to find treasures that brought joy to everyone around her. She embraced her role as a Tupperware Lady when her children were young and later took pride in being a vital part of the membership team at Sam's Club. Candy’s love for shopping was only rivaled by her love for connecting with people, always ensuring that every gathering was laced with laughter and fond memories.

Candy's spirit was a vibrant tapestry woven with fun and laughter, and she had an infectious personality that could brighten the cloudiest of days. Family members fondly remembered her "crazy driving," a source of both fear and laughter, illustrating the playful side of her character that endeared her to so many.

Her dedication to those in her community and the care she provided to her older friends were among her proudest accomplishments, alongside raising her amazing children. Candy is survived by her three loving daughters, Stephanie Zientek, Tamara Belanga, and Carolyn (Dan) Wells, and one wonderful son, Chip (Katie) Belanga. The legacy she leaves behind is fortified by the love and admiration of her 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, as well as her sisters; Dawn and Shelly and brothers; Dick and Tom. She also held dear many extended family members and cherished friends.

Candy will be remembered for her loving heart, her enthusiasm for life, and the moments she created with those around her. Her warmth and generosity will resonate in the lives she touched long after her passing.

Visitation and memorial services for Candy will take place at Newcomer Funeral Home, West Sylvania, on May 13, 2025. After the services conclude, family and friends are invited and welcome to join the children at The VFW 9656 Post, 4120 Piehl Rd., Lamberville, MI.

Though Candy has departed from this earthly realm, her spirit continues to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace, reunited with her dear husband, Ronnie, where their love story continues for eternity.
