Naomi Nugent was born on May 10, 1938 to the late Herbert and Ometha Tyler. She made her transition from death to life eternal on January, 2024 at home surrounded by her family and friends.
She was converted at an early age, at the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Clarendon, Arkansas. She was united with Zion Hill M. BC February 22, 1953 under the leadership of Rev G.H Martin. She later joined the Galilee M. BC. She served as a nurse and a Sunday school teacher.
On March 2, 1974 she was united in Holy Matrimony to Ockney Nugent for 50 years. She was an excellent wife, mother and friend. She would listen to your problem and give you advice if you asked, but make sure you want her honest opinion, because that is what you would get. She loved people and especially young people. Naomi was an advocate bible reader.
She attended Waite H.S. she graduated from the University of Toledo in 1978. Where she was on the Deans List. She worked as a social worker for children services. She also was a proud owner of a day care center.
She loved to shop, shop, and shop, cooking, gardening, fishing and camping.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Herbert and Ometha Tyler and her brother Herbert Tyler Jr.
Naomi leaves to cherish her memories is her husband Husband Ockney Nugent. 3 Sons: Marquise Mcgrone, Frank (Ruthulyn) Nugent, Eon Nugent Toledo, Ohio. 7 Daughters: Gwenda (Don) Gibson, Florence Kentucky, Veronica (John) White, Converse Texas. Cassandra (Mark) Curtis. Toledo Ohio. Dareth (Rudolph) Hanniford. Julette Nugent, Sheridon (Leroy) Ellis. Claudia (John) Green. All reside in Toledo Ohio. Grandson Micah Draper.
Siblings: 2 brothers: Ernest Tyler & Dana Tyler, Toledo Ohio. 5 Sisters: Ernestine Adger, Barbara Govan Toledo, Ohio. Lennie (Curt) Devin , Colorado, Springs. Ruthielyn Lisumbu San Antonio Texas. Joyce Cuffy, Jacksonville Florida.
She has (18) Grandchildren and (30) Great- Grandchildren and (5) Great-great grandchildren.
A Host of nieces, nephews and devoted friends. She had a special friendship with her sister Ernestine Adger.
Friends and family are invited to attend her Naomi's service at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 2008 Valentine St. Toledo, OH on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
