Nancy J. (Prange) Sears departed this life on January 5, 2026. Born on August 21, 1962, in Adrian, Michigan, she grew up in the Waldron, Michigan area, and graduated from Waldron High School in 1980. She went on to earn her degree in Early Childhood Development from Siena Heights College in Adrian, Michigan.
Her professional journey began in 1982 and spanned more than four decades, taking her to various cities across the country. Over the course of her career, Nancy earned a respected reputation in Child Care Management, admired for her unwavering dedication, strong leadership, and genuine compassion.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. Nancy is lovingly remembered by her children, Nathan (Deana) Sears and Jeanna (Tom) Tran. She was a devoted "Nana" to five cherished grandchildren, Jaehee, Grace, Minhee, Hee-Chul, and Taehee, who were the light of her world. Her family was the source of her deepest fulfillment, filling her days with love, laughter, and a richness of life beyond measure.
Nancy was a passionate traveler whose adventures took her to all fifty states, every continent, and countless countries. She eagerly anticipated each journey, often sharing these experiences with dear friends, her cousin Julie, her mother, or her sister and brother-in-law. She especially treasured the ventures shared with her children over the years, from local outings and family vacations across the United States to an unforgettable family journey to Korea after her children married, as well as a special trip to Europe with her daughter. In more recent years, she found joy as family vacations grew to include her grandchildren. No matter the destination or her companions, Nancy embraced each experience with intention, creating special moments and lasting memories wherever she went.
In addition to her children, she is survived by her mother, Sharon L. Hills of Hudson, MI; her brother, Raymond Prange of Huntington Beach, CA; her sister, Lisa (David) Bernath of Waldron, MI; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Those who passed before her were grandmother, Clarice "Jean" Gillen; grandfather, Claude Sorgenfrie; and brother, Robert L. Prange II.
Nancy will forever be in our hearts. Her love, steady presence, insight, dry humor, and generosity have left an imprint on our lives, creating a space that no one else can fill.
