Millard "JR" Jones Jr. of Perrysburg, Ohio passed away on June 20, 2025. He was born on October 22, 1952, in Jellico, Tennessee to Reverend Millard Jones Sr. and Beatrice (Sumner) Jones. He attended Woodward High School and went on to be a truck driver.
His passion was for music, especially country music, he was an avid guitar player, and was in local bands throughout his life, and prior to declining health, he loved the jam sessions with his fellow musician friends. He would always make sure he sang His wife Dorothy’s favorite song that he sang especially for her “Statue of a Fool. The jam sessions would be held at senior living facilities, Nursing homes, other hosted events, or just a get together amongst friends.
He also loved to play his guitar at church and had a great talent for playing by ear as well. He enjoiyed fishing and was so excited when he got to fish in Outer Banks North Carolina with family and great grandchildren. He loved to watch football, and his favorite teams were Ohio State Buckeyes, and Kansas City Chiefs.
When you went to visit JR rest assured you would find a western playing on TV, he had his favorite channels programmed in for any channel that played 24-hour westerns. He enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, especially Euchre. He enjoyed hanging out with friends and loved family time.
He was known as a kind, passionate man and would help anyone in need, even though life was hard he was always grateful for what he had, and never took anything for granted, he was a man of integrity, strength, and a child of God.
He was preceded in death by his father Millard Jones Sr. and mother Beatrice (Sumner) Jones, his loving wife Dorothy Jones.
He is survived by his 4 children Leroy (Julie) Walter III, Tammy (Scott) Rainey, Peggy (Mike) Niedbalski, and daughter Susan (Gary) Page, many grandchildren, great grandchildren. Siblings Linzie Dean (Betty) Jones, Steve (Sharon) Jones, and Danny K Jones), nieces and nephews
Family and friends will be received at the Newcomer Funeral Home (SW Chapel) 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo, Ohio on Wednesday June 25, 2025 from 1:00-4:00 PM. A service will be held immediately following visitation at 4:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
