Michelle J. Karavas, a beloved Register Nurse, passed away peacefully at the Majestic Care Center in Oregon, Ohio on March 10, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on September 12, 1945, in Toledo Ohio, she devoted life to caring for others, both professionally and personally.
Michelle's journey took a significant turn when she moved to Florida in 1985, where she lived until 2017. During her time there, she built a life filled with cherished moments and laughter. A woman of vibrant spirit, she was a passionate animal lover, especially fond of chihuahuas, always having at least five furry friends by her side. Her love for her pets was a reflection of her nurturing nature, extending beyond her profession as a nurse.
Michelle is survived by her siblings, William Gorshoff, Michael (Eleanor) Gorshoff, and Bruce (Stephanie) Gorshoff. She is also survived by her loving children, Pete Karavas, Wendy Humphrey, and Chris Karavas, who will forever hold in their hearts the precious memories. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren—Andrea Karavas, Brittany Chouinard, Cameron Karavas, Camille Karavas, Caede Karavas, and Callia Karavas—as well as her great-grandchildren, Kylah Wager and Kaden Wager, all of whom were cherished by her in countless ways. Together, they formed a close-knit family, nurtured by their parents, William and Lillian Gorshoff, who preceded her in death.
In honor of Michelle's extraordinary life and the impact she made on the lives of those around her, a Celebration of Life will be held on March 14, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Rayz Cafe, 608 Main Street, Genoa, Ohio 43430. This gathering will serve as a tribute to her resilient spirit and the love she so freely gave. Floral arrangements that are being sent to the family please send to Rayz Cafe for the celebration of life.
