Michael David Mears

Michael D. Mears, 69, of Toledo and formerly of Bacliff, Texas passed peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, November 10, 2025 at The Toledo Hospital, after a short illness. Mike was preceded in death by his parents Mary M. (Solomon) Mears and Robert Mears, stepsister Barbara (McGee) Knopp and his aunt Ann (Mears) Kazmaier.

Mike graduated from Start High School in 1973 and attended the University of Toledo. He chose plumbing as his vocation, gaining experience with several Toledo and Houston companies where he earned his Master Plumber License and established Mears Plumbing in the Houston area. Mike truly enjoyed his success and hobbies, traveling and hosting friends from Toledo. After retiring in 2021, Mike returned to friends and family in Toledo, cousins Sue Kazmaier, Christine (Brian) Folk, Marne Meszaros and Jared (Dawn) Lennard. Mike's Bacliff neighbors nicknamed him "Wilson" for his wisdom over the fence line, and is fondly remembered in Toledo by family, friends and neighbors as discerning, kind and generous.

He is also survived by his niece Paula and nephews Kevin McGee and Ken Knopp and David Knopp, and by his cousin Steve (Beverly) Solomon.

A celebration of their life will take place at a later date, to be shared with family and friends.
