Michael D. Drayton

On a sunny September afternoon, with his beloved children at his side, Michael D. Drayton was called to rest after suffering a heart attack earlier in the week. He was preceded by his beloved wife, Marcia, to whom he was married faithfully for 36 years and with whom he raised their children. The youngest of ten siblings, “Mike” is survived by his children (Jennifer and Gary), sisters (Liz, Kate, Sharon), dozens of nieces and nephews, and his Irish pen-pals.

Mike loved being outside (running, golfing), bowling, traveling, and spending time with family. He spent most of his working years as a union member, providing for his family on the Roadway docks. Mike grew up in Temperance, MI, lived most of his life in Toledo, OH, served bravely in Vietnam, loved the beaches and golf courses of Hilton Head, and was the correspondence connection to the Drayton family back in Donegal Ireland.

Mike will be missed by all who knew him as a kind, generous, soft-spoken and steady presence at home and in his neighborhood, at VFW Post 2898, and wherever he went.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest Toledo, located at 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo, OH 43623. A Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church, 3030 Tremainsville Rd., Toledo, OH 43613. Burial will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park, 4210 Central Ave., Toledo, OH 43606.
