Michael Rennay Thompson, a beloved brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on July 17, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan, he was the oldest of three children born to Marcena Jones Thompson and Betty Jean Sherrell.
He was preceded in death by this parents Marcena Jones Thompson and Betty Jean Thompson. He is survived by his siblings Debra Thompson and James Thompson (Amalia) and nephew Bryan Thompson and a host of great nieces and nephews and James Thompson Jr.
He grew up in Detroit, Michigan where having a good time was his number one priority in life. If the word party came up, he would be the first person in line with a big smile. He was a graduate of Cooley High School. He moved to Toledo in 1988 for a job and never left.
He started his working career at Eastman Kodak and then moved on to being a Disc jockey on radio. Music was his heart, and he worked at several radio stations over the years. WJLB, WWWM, WVOI 1520 The Blend. He even did a TV show called Video Blend in Toledo. He was also an over the road truck driver for years. He always said that he had driven to at least 50 states. His last job was in security at UTMC hospital where he was well loved by many.
He went by many names, Casey McMichaels or Maestro. He was a veteran and a member of the VFW post 3338 where he could be found doing karaoke with his friends. He acquired a host of friends over the years. If you wanted a fun time Casey was your man. Everyone loved him. He was the life of the party. No matter where he went, he knew someone or someone knew him and not just in Toledo.
New Orleans was his favorite vacation place to go. Good food and fun and Casey was there. The first year that he went to New Orleans he did not want to come back to Toledo, he had to be forced back on the plane. Casey’s hobbies were music, singing, golf and playing chess.
Casey has left a void in our lives. He touched so many people’s lives. He is in God’s hands now, but we miss him so. He leaves behind his other half Wanda Stuart and his adopted children Renee Stuart and Michael Stuart, and best friend Wille Thomas.
