In loving memory of Michael Boggs, who passed away on September 29th, 2023 at the age of 62. Mike was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather.
Spending quality time with his family was his greatest pleasure, and he created countless cherished memories by going out of his way to make sure he could spend time with people. He would be so excited talking about planes or learning the guitar that you couldn't help getting excited with him. He enjoyed nothing more than getting gifts for his grandkids at birthdays and holidays, and watching their faces light up. He was also a constant helping hand, willing to find a way to fix anything (or trim that tree that looks more than a little dangerous)
Mike was an avid sports fan who enjoyed playing, watching, and talking about sports. Especially when it was watching the Rams or playing basketball with family. We may have lost track of the number of pairs of glasses he broke playing sports a long time ago, but we will never forget the great memories from conversations about sports.
Beyond his love of sports and family, he enjoyed spending his time outdoors. Along with fishing and kayaking, one of his favorite things to do was to go on long walks, especially if he was able to get a picture of something interesting and share it with people later. He was an incredible gardener who was born with a green thumb but had a love of learning that helped him get better over time. His love of learning spread way beyond gardening as well, regardless of if it was watching a new episode of NOVA, or simply helping out with homework.
He will be remembered for his great laugh, his unwavering love for family, his passion for sports, and his deep connection with nature. He leaves behind a void that can never be filled but a legacy of family that he was incredibly proud of.
Mike is survived by his wife of 11 years, Penny, and siblings, Mary (Paul) and Mark (Gena). He is also survived by his children, Michael (Paige) Boggs, Amber (Mike) Blair, Whitney (Mike) Haupt, and Nikki Phinney, as well as grandchildren, Brent, Madisyn, Jordan, Jack, Alexys, Sam, Ryleigh and Anastasia.
The family will receive guests on Thursday, October 5, 2023 from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the Newcomer Funeral Home - Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd, Toledo, Ohio, where a Funeral Service will begin at 6:00 pm.
