Mary Ann Reed, affectionately known as both Mary Ann and the "Empress," passed away on September 6, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on July 8, 1944, in San Diego, California, she led a life filled with love, devotion, and a passion for education.
Mary Ann devoted 39 years to teaching in the Monroe County School District, where her impact on young minds was immeasurable. She earned her Master's in Education, a testament to her commitment to lifelong learning and the education of others. Mary Ann's professional journey was marked by her dedication to her students and her profound belief in the power of education to transform lives.
In addition to her career, Mary Ann was a faithfully devoted member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, where she enriched the lives of many through her unwavering faith and community involvement. Her personality shone brightly, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Mary Ann's love for life extended beyond her professional endeavors. She cherished her time spent traveling with her husband, Ted Reed, with whom she celebrated 55 years of marriage. Together, they created countless memories, including moments at their beloved lake retreat, which held a special place in her heart.
Mary Ann is survived by her loving family, including her sister-in-laws, Kay (Roland) Pedersen and Susie Reed; her brother-in-law, Rex (Debbie) Reed; her nephew, Wayne (Heather) Pedersen; her niece, Katrina (Tony Howard) Pedersen; and her great-niece, Ruby Pedersen. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Bernice Morris; her husband, Ted Reed; and her sister, Merub Morris.
The visitation and funeral service for Mary Ann Reed will take place on September 15, 2025, at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Toledo, located at 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, OH. The visitation will begin at 12:00 PM and will be followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM.
Mary Ann Reed's legacy of love and compassion will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
