Listen to Obituary

Mary M. White of Maumee Ohio passed away peacefully with family on January 16, 2026. She was born Mary Maebyron "Maisie" Farison on July 1st, 1929 to her parents Charles and Margaret Farison of Napoleon Ohio. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Jimmie Joe White and her brother Charles "Darrell" Farison.

She is survived by her children, Kim (Kimberly Cline) White, Kelly White, Kerry White, James Kevin White, Kristen (Robert) Gaddis and grandchildren, Ryan, Chelsea, Kyle and Lindsay.

An avid reader of books (one or two a week!), Mary carried with her a list of every book she had read since 1965. She would say, "I hate being two chapters into a new book only to realize I had read it years ago!". Her vocabulary and wit were so strong that she became a 500-point Scrabble player, as her friend Ann Bryant will attest.

Mary loved to bake. During the holidays, family and friends would find themselves lucky indeed sampling from hundreds of her delicious Christmas cookies. They were all shapes and types and filled dozens of cookie tins. She was also a master with knitting needles and her special Irish yarns. Fortunate are the family members and friends who cherish the afghan blankets, sweaters, hats and booties lovingly created by Mary.

Mary originally wanted her obituary to be irreverent and entertaining: "It should say that Jim and I met when I was an exotic dancer at the club near his Army base!" In fact, she and the love of her life were high school sweethearts. Jim was the Napoleon High School star quarterback, Mary the homecoming queen. She would put extra ice cream into the milkshakes she made him at her job at Spengler's soda fountain. They were a perfect couple and raised a wonderful family. As Mary said in a 2008 interview, "It's been a wonderful life and I wouldn't change a thing."

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mary's name to St. Joseph Catholic Church 104 W. Broadway St. Maumee, OH 43537 or Elara Caring Hospice 3425 Executive Pkwy. Toledo, OH 43606
