Mary Lou (Best) Shortridge, age 94, died peacefully at home. She was a loving wife to Richard Dean Shortridge for 62 years before his passing. She was a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, affectionately known as Grandma Shorty.
She graduated from Central Catholic High School and was a member the of Saint Clements Parrish for sixty plus years. She loved working at Churchill’s Religious Good and Gifts with her dear friends. She had a great devotion to the Catholic faith, the Blessed Mother, joined the charismatic movement, was witness to many miracles, attend numerous healing masses and sang in the choir.
Her most cherished time was with family in the house that she and Dad built together. She loved to watch EWTN, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and Mud Hens baseball while eating ice cream! She spent her time reading, painting, and sending cards.
She is proceeded in death by her husband Richard, her parents Archie Milton and Mary Norma (Fallon) Best, all her brothers and one sister.
Survived by her children Rick Shortridge (Kathy), Diana Mylek, Will Shortridge (Angela), Peggy Johnson (Rick), Joe Shortridge and Jennifer Shortridge. Ten grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren.
She wanted to tell us, “I was blessed with a beautiful family and many friends and my Catholic faith.”
In lieu of flowers she asked that a donation be sent to Heartbeat of Toledo.
