Mary Jo Samples

Mary Jo Samples, aged 69, of Toledo, Ohio passed away peacefully at her home on January 10, 2026. Born on November 25, 1956, in Toledo, Ohio, she was the beloved daughter of the late Theodore and Josephine Chmielewski. Mary Jo was a devoted sister to her late brothers, Theodore and Terrance (Liz) Chmielewski.

A proud graduate of Central Catholic High School in 1974, Mary Jo furthered her education by attending Owens Community College, where she focused on child development. Her commitment to nurturing and education was evident throughout her life.

On September 18, 1993, Mary Jo had the joy of marrying her cherished husband, Charles Samples. Together, they built a loving family that was at the center of her world. Mary Jo is survived by her beloved husband, Charles, and their children: Kelly Ann (Rodney) Delvaux, Kathleen (Bruce) Mueller, Kerry "Bear" (Becky) Rouse and Grace Samples. She also took immense pride in her role as a grandmother to Samantha, Nicholas, Joe, Tony, Rylee, Kyndra, Ethan, Caden, and Kennedy; as well as a great-grandmother to Jayden, Lincoln, Jackson, Leo, Aleena and Izabella.

Mary Jo’s vibrant spirit shone through her many interests and hobbies. She had a profound love for her family, her dogs, Luna and Rosie, and the adventures shared on Harley Motorcycles with her husband and friends. Her adventurous spirit led her to travel with her husband, discovering new places, especially lighthouses, which brought her great joy. Mary Jo was a devout catholic and was rooted deep in her faith, where she forged lasting friendships within her community.

Mary Jo's legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her visitation will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a funeral service at 5:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Toledo, located at 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, OH, 43614.

Her kindness, love, and joyful spirit will be missed dearly, but the memories of her life will always be cherished.
