Mary Ellen Smith

Mary Ellen Smith, age 86, of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away on September 19, 2026, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. She was born on October 17, 1939, in Dallas, Texas, to Laris Wilford Faulkner and Noma Ray Cole.

Mary graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas and worked as a legal secretary for Dallas attorney John Cooper Blankenship for 36 years. She took great pride in her work and was admired for her dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment throughout her career.

Above all, Mary cherished her family and was always willing to help others in any way she could. Her favorite pastimes included playing bingo and card games, watching her favorite movies, and, most importantly, attending Bible studies led by her beloved granddaughter, Maddie. Mary will be remembered for her generous heart, her love for her family, and the kindness she shared with those around her.

In addition to her parents, Mary was also preceded in death by her husband, Jerry S. Smith. She is survived by her children, Leslie Childress, Jason Smith and his wife, Meredith, and Jennifer Childress; and her five grandchildren, Spencer Lisle, Maddison Lisle, Faith Botello, Gavin Smith, and Colton Smith.

The family will receive guests Tuesday, September 22, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
