Mary Faye Barhite, whose warmth and kindness touched the hearts of many, passed away on June 20, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on May 7, 1943, as Mary Faye Hartsock, she dedicated her life to serving others, leaving behind a legacy of compassion that will be deeply missed.
Mary worked for many years at Hinkle's Manufacturing, where she was not just an employee but a cherished colleague known for her caring nature. Her commitment to helping those in need was evident in her everyday actions; she maintained an open-door policy for anyone seeking a listening ear or a helping hand. Mary instilled these values in her children, teaching them the importance of having a charitable heart and always being there for others.
Her personality shone brightly through her many interests; she found joy in crocheting and was often found immersed in crossword puzzles, delighting in the challenges they brought. Beyond her hobbies, what defined Mary was her immense love for her family and friends. She cared deeply for those she loved, and her generosity was reflected in every interaction.
Mary's proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly her children: Tim McGowan, Lisa Scholl (Jeff Maier), and Michael McGowan (Sheila), who remembers her guidance and love fondly. She took great joy in her role as a grandmother to Megan, Molly, Matthew, Andrea, Mary, and Catherine, and also cherished the experiences shared with her many loving great-grandchildren. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she devoted herself to nurturing their spirits and aspirations.
She is survived by her beloved sister, Eileen Fleenor, who will carry forward their shared memories and affection. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Fugate Hartsock and Arah May Mabe Hartsock, along with many loving brothers and sisters who filled her life with laughter and support.
As we remember Mary Faye Barhite, let us celebrate her life by honoring her unwavering spirit of kindness and service. May her legacy continue to inspire us to help others in need, just as she did with such grace and love. Her presence will be profoundly missed, but her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her.
