Marvin A. "Bob" Cowden, age 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Bob proudly served in the U.S. Army, and during a tour overseas, he met and later married the love of his life, Dorothy. After his military service, he retired from General Motors, where he built a strong work ethic and lasting friendships. Bob especially enjoyed attending the annual General Motors Festival, a tradition he passed down to his children and grandchildren.

Bob was known for hosting memorable summer parties filled with food, laughter, and the warmth of family and friends. He truly had a way of lighting up any room and was always ready with a sharp joke and a warm greeting — often saying, “Well, hello darlin’.”

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Dorothy; his son, Ed; his daughter, Nancy; and two grandsons.

He is survived by his children: Phil (Chris) Cowden of England; Marvin (Vickie) Cowden of Toledo; Debbie (Gary) Perry of Swanton; Vickie (Paul) Davis of Holland; Bobby (Amber) Cowden of Holland, daughter-in-law Lori; and son-in-law Fred. He also leaves behind eighteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

Bob was deeply loved by all who knew him and will be remembered for his humor, strength, and unwavering love for his family. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend. His legacy of laughter, love, and loyalty lives on in the many hearts he touched.

Bob wished to send a heartfelt thank you to his girls for the love and care they gave him, and a special thank you to his weekly dinner date, Sue.

A Celebration of Life service with Military honors will be held promptly at 12:00 PM on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at The Dwelling Place, 8201 Angola Rd., Holland, OH. The family will receive family and friends 1 hour prior to the service. A dinner will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, Bob requested that donations be made to the Children’s Fund at The Dwelling Place, as he dearly loved his grandchildren.
