Marlin “Butch” Jay Pritchard, age 77, of Toledo, Ohio passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 5, 2025. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on September 12, 1948.
Marlin was a graduate of Northwood High School. He then served two tours in Vietnam and was a proud Navy Veteran. Afterward, Marlin received his Associate Degree in Architectural Engineering Technology at the University of Toledo before starting a career that spanned many fields. He began in architectural design, contributing to construction how-to books and residential design projects before moving into computer applications, where he helped develop early CAD systems for education and industry. Marlin later worked in CAD design and consulting for major firms before transitioning into real estate appraisal. He then founded Fort Miami Appraisal Services, LLC and built a respected practice as an Appraiser. Marlin’s lifelong commitment to learning and craftsmanship defined every stage of his professional life.
As a youth, Marlin identified as a classic “Greaser” who enjoyed fast cars, street racing, cigarettes, and whiskey. As he grew, he later developed a love for golf and dancing. As a father, Marlin invested his time in coaching his children’s sports teams, taking them on annual vacations, and he particularly enjoyed embarrassing his children in public by dancing in grocery stores.
