Mark Owen Sperry SR., a dedicated firefighter and respected member of the Toledo, Ohio community, passed away on May 6, 2026, in Oregon, Ohio. Born on July 19, 1964, in Toledo, Mark devoted his life to service, living with a character defined by hard work, integrity, and a steadfast commitment to others.

Mark’s career was marked by an extraordinary 35 years with the Toledo Fire Department, where he earned a reputation as the first in and last one to leave. His unwavering dedication to saving lives and protecting his community stands as a testament to a life well lived and a calling faithfully answered. Following his distinguished firefighting career, he demonstrated the same entrepreneurial spirit by owning and running a successful painting company, further exemplifying his hardworking nature.

Beyond his professional achievements, Mark embraced life with enthusiasm, particularly sharing a passion for scuba diving. Those who knew him admired not only his great character but also his pursuit of interests that brought him joy and balance.

Mark is survived by his loving wife Brenda; son Mark Jr.; daughter Misty; granddaughter Peyton; sister Judy; sister-in-law Irene; niece Mindy and her partner Max; and nephews Matt and Michael, alongside Michael’s partner Amanda. His family was a central part of his life, and he remained a pillar of strength and support for those closest to him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents and siblings Ed, Mike, Linda, and Cindy, who undoubtedly shaped the foundation upon which his life was built.

Memorial services will be held on May 12, 2026, beginning with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 12:00 p.m., both taking place at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest Toledo, located at 4150 W Laskey Rd, Toledo, OH 43623. These gatherings will offer family, friends, colleagues, and community members a chance to honor Mark’s memory and celebrate a remarkable life dedicated to service, family, and integrity.
