After a long, eventful and happy life, Marjorie passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025. Born to the family of James and Fanny Jones on June 6, 1933. She had three siblings: James Jones, Barbara Haydu and Florence Steinem [survives]. Marjorie showed early musical promise playing the piano during her teen years at the Peristyle. Marjorie was a caring, resourceful and resilient woman.
Marjorie met and married Ellsworth Paul [known as Al Paul] in 1954 and then she moved into her mothering years. Having Gloria [Jeff] Wise, Carl Paul, Brenda [Bill] Zaenger, David Paul, Phillip [Angel] Paul and Kurt [Naoko] Paul. While raising her large family and to encourage best behavior Marjorie would often say ‘what we are doing is a treat and I don’t expect to get the treatment’.
Al Paul passed away in 1966 and then Marjorie reinvented herself and became a Realtor. She was very successful at selling real estate while raising and managing her houseful of children. She teamed up with Terry McCleary and for decades they listed and sold homes in the Sylvania and Toledo area.
Marjorie was the proud grandmother to 15 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Her large family assured there was always some event to celebrate.
In her fifties, Marjorie met Dr. Khalid Hameed. Together, they traveled extensively. Marjorie would always say, ‘a passport tells a story’. Together, they traveled to: Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Thailand, Turkey, Italy, Brazil, Greece, England, Netherland and the Bahamas. They had homes in Texas, Canada and the Bahamas and enjoyed traveling, concerts, poetry readings and time spent with family and friends. When Khalid passed away in 2018, Marjorie moved back to Toledo.
Marjorie passed away with her children by her side. A special thank you to Gia Nguyen, who also loved and assisted her. Marjorie enjoyed life to the fullest surrounded and loved by family and dear friends.
Family and Friends are welcome to Celebration the Life of Marjorie Hameed on Sunday, September 7, 2025 from Noon to 4:00 pm at the Nederhouser Community Hall inside Olander Park, Sylvania, Ohio.
