Marjorie A. Fosgate

Marjorie A. Fosgate, known affectionately as Marge, passed away on June 17, 2025, in Toledo, Ohio, at the age of 88. Born on February 25, 1937, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, she was a devoted homemaker who poured her heart into her family, nurturing them with love and laughter throughout her life.

Marge’s unwavering spirit left an indelible mark on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. With an infectious smile and a playful demeanor, she could effortlessly lift the spirits of those around her. Her unique charm was complemented by her sharp mind and remarkable memory; everyone who met her felt an instant connection. A true testament to her nature, Marge never knew a stranger.

As a mother, Marge took immense pride in raising her daughters—Cindy Hawkins, Brenda Bevelhymer, Julie Snyder, Anita Fosgate, and Bonnie Everitt—instilling in them the values of kindness and love. Her legacy lives on through her children, who remember her not just as a mother, but as a steadfast friend and confidante. A loving presence in their lives, Marge was known to provide affectionate love taps and playful punches when the moment called for it, bringing warmth and joy to her family's gatherings.

Among her countless cherished memories, one can still picture her accidentally doing somersaults off reclining chairs, creating laughter that echoed through their home. Her penchant for fun extended to her wardrobe, especially when she inadvertently purchased pants adorned with a marijuana pattern, which quickly became her favorite to wear, often eliciting a fond chuckle from family and friends alike. Many a night was spent playing games, often until the dawn broke at 6 AM, as Marge reveled in the simple pleasures of life with her loved ones.

Marge was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jim Fosgate, her parents Bessie and Harold Porter, and her brothers Allen, Carl, and Richard Porter. Each of these losses resonated deeply in her life, yet she always managed to uplift those around her through her unwavering warmth and resilience.

Marge's journey will be celebrated with love during visitation at Newcomer Funeral Home in Northwest Toledo on June 24, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will take place the following day, June 25, 2025, beginning at 10:30 AM, with a poignant farewell to this exceptional woman who gave so much to others.

Marge's spirit will continue to light the hearts of her daughters, God-son Richard Porter, and sister-in-law Perly Porter, along with everyone fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her. In remembering Marge, we embrace the love she shared, the joy she brought, and the many beautiful memories that will forever remain in our hearts.
