Maria Elena Ramirez, 82, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on June 10, 2025, at Lakes of Monclova. She was born on February 9, 1943, in Uvalde, Texas.
Maria Elena was a devoted Wife and Mother who loved her husband and family dearly. Maria's greatest passion was cooking for her large family gatherings, where her kitchen became the heart of her home - a place for laughter, card games, and music. She loved to sing along with the music and in church. In her youth, she proudly played the trombone in the Libbey High School marching band.
Maria Elena kept in her heart that her family was her main priority, while also volunteering at St. Mary's School as a classroom aide and helped serve lunches for the students. Maria Elena worked for years at Hirzel Canning Company and worked for Gladieux Catering.
Maria Elena was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Reyes and Guadelupe Martinez; husband, Gilbert Ramirez; mother-in-law, Micaela Ramirez; and grandson, Emilio Rodriguez. As well as her siblings, Dolores Ortiz, Marianna Krupa and Emeterio Reyes and many other beloved family members. Lastly, her beloved pets, Chico, Pepsi, Micky and Pepe.
Maria Elena will be remembered for her heart of gold, always seeing the good in others and extending a helping hand whenever needed. A devoted member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, she was an active participant in the Hijos de Maria, organizing benefit dances to support the church community she cherished. She was an active member of the Organization of Latins United. Maria Elena and Gilbert often attended dances where they were known for their passion for dancing.
She is survived by her loving children, Gilbert Jr (Laura), Anita (Patrick Sr) Feher, Monica (Kenneth) Wachowiak, Patricia Ramirez, Jose (Beverly), Yolanda (Mark) Sholl, and Fernando (Terri).
