Maria De La Luz (Moralez) Garcia passed on June 22, 2026 during the Divine Mercy hour at the age of 90. She was born on May 6, 1936 in San Antonio, Texas. She is the daughter of the late Jesus and Vicenta Moralez.
Maria has always believed in helping where she could and it started as a young women, with raising her brothers and mentoring her sister, Josephina. Maria never turned away a person in need, providing more than just her time, but any resource she might have. This attribute carried on into motherhood, as she dedicated her herself to raising her son, Jesus. She was a talented homemaker ensuring that every meal she made always held her special ingredient, love.
Maria was not only known for her generosity, but also her strong faith based foundation. Maria was a devout Catholic and never missed a mass. Even when her health would prevent her from physically attending, Maria ensured she tuned in on the TV to be present.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jesus and Augustine Moralez and sisters, Juanita and Dolores.
Maria is survived by her husband of 60 years, Alberto T. Garcia and her loving son, Jesus A. (Renee) Garcia; sister, Josephina (Charlie deceased) Trub; niece, Monica (Dr. Leo J.) Colarossi; sister-in-laws, Virginia (Jose deceased) Moralez, Rosemary (Antonio deceased) Moralez; brother, Raul (Cecilia) Moralez; and numerous nephews and nieces.
The family will receive guests, Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Newcomer SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). A Graveside Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
