Margaret Ann Solly

August 26, 1943 — June 3, 2025

Toledo, Ohio

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Ann Solly on June 3, 2025. Margaret's soul was surrounded by her family as she left this world, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her.

Born on August 26, 1943, in Henderson, Kentucky, Margaret was the cherished daughter of John P. Kerin and Hannah (Tipping) Kerin. Her early years were filled with warmth and familial love, shaping her into the devoted and nurturing spirit that so many came to admire.

Margaret graduated from Devilbiss High School in 1959, where her bright smile and generous nature shone brightly even then. Her journey into the workforce began as a Candy Striper at the Toledo Hospital, a role that allowed her to nurture others and would ultimately lead her to meet her future husband, John R. Solly Sr. They married on, August 31, 1961, joining their lives in a partnership that would blossom into a beautiful family life.

Margaret embraced her roles as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt with unwavering dedication. She and John welcomed their first daughter and later a son into their lives, creating a home filled with laughter and joy. Margaret delighted in life's simple pleasures, whether it was bowling, knitting, or indulging her love of reading. Her passion for adventure took her to various casinos and vacation spots, especially fond of spending time with family in Mississippi and Sanibel Island.

After John's retirement from Toledo Concrete Pipe and Margaret's own from Great Lakes Engraving, they found a slice of heaven in Sandusky, Ohio. Close to the serene waters of Lake Erie and surrounded by Margaret's beloved sisters, Judy and Patty, they enjoyed years filled with boating and the joy of newfound friendships before returning to Toledo.

Margaret’s presence in this world has been enriched by the family she leaves behind. She is survived by her devoted husband, John R. Solly Sr.; her brother Jack (Dianne) Kerin; her sister Patricia Morley; and sister-in-law Terry Kerin. Her loving legacy continues through her daughter Tracy (Jeff) Pearson and her son John (Theresa) R. Solly Jr. She was a proud grandmother to Nikki, Chris (Kasey), Nick (Leah), Cody, Shane (Emily), Samantha, Shaun (Makayla), Sydney (Geoff), and John Riley (Emily), and was blessed to enjoy the love of 15 great-grandchildren: Aidan, Kayleigh, Conor, Madyson, Macy, Maisley, Adelaide, Declan, Carter, Lincoln, Isac, Elenor, Olivia, Adelin, and Harper.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents and several beloved family members, including her oldest sister Judy Lotterer (Kerin), her younger brother Michael R. Kerin, her brother-in-law John Morley, and her beloved grandson Porter (Andy) Shambarger. Each loved one she lost was held deeply within her heart.

There will be a celebration of Margaret's beautiful life at West Side Community Church, located at 6045 West Bancroft St., Toledo, Ohio 43615 on June 21, 2025, from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m. As we gather to honor her memory, let us remember the warmth of her laugh, the kindness of her heart, and the myriad ways she touched our lives. Margaret Ann Solly will forever remain in our hearts, a beacon of love and light.
