Lynn Raymond Gauthier, age 88, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, July 8th, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born on June 5th, 1938, Lynn lived a long and devoted life marked by dedication, quiet strength, and deep love for those closest to him.
For 38 years, Lynn served Washington Local Schools in the maintenance department, where he was known for his reliability, hard work, and unwavering commitment to the students and staff he supported. He also spent 8 years as a Toledo Police Officer. He played baseball and football for DeVilbiss High School. His steady presence and strong work ethic left a lasting impact on the community he cared for.
Lynn’s greatest joy in life came from his family. Known as Papa/Pops, he cherished his grandchildren and found his deepest happiness in his great-grandchildren, whose laughter and energy brought him endless pride and warmth.
Lynn enjoyed his old western movies and shows, taking trips with Marilyn in the camper, wood carving, and was an avid bowler.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage, and turned down a full ride football scholarship to Kent State University to marry — a lifelong partnership built on love, loyalty, and devotion; daughters Lisa (Rodney) and Sherri (Tim), and son Lynn II (Michelle), grandchildren Brad (Mark), Austin (Ashley), Stephanie (Tyler), Ashley (Mike), John (Hanna), Foster, Conner, and great-grandchildren Azel, McKenzie, Rylee, Audie, Allison, Emersyn, Amore, and Jett.
Lynn is preceded in death by parents Raymond and Gertrude Gauthier, sister Elaine Talbot, and great grand-daughter Juliette.
Papa/Pops will be remembered for his kindness, his dedication, and the love he carried for his family throughout his life, his servant leadership, his devotion to church, and his love for Jesus.
Visitation and Funeral Services will be held on Sunday July 12th, 2026, from 3pm to 7pm at Newcomer Funeral Home located at 3655 King Rd. Toledo, OH 43617. Funeral services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home at 12pm on Monday July 13th, 2026. Procession to follow to Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
