Luvenia King, affectionately known as Bonnie, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, in Perrysburg, Ohio. Born on June 21, 1949, in Cedartown, Georgia, Luvenia lived a life marked by kindness, dedication, and an unwavering love for her family, church and community.
For three decades, Luvenia devoted her career to Lourdes College at Sisters of St Francis, where her commitment and warmth left a lasting impression on many. She was a woman deeply rooted in faith, proudly serving her church, Bethlehem Baptist through the Usher Board, Kitchen Committee, and Deaconess Board. Her devotion to her church family was a testament to her compassionate spirit and generous heart.
Luvenia’s home was known far and wide as the beloved “gathering place,” a welcoming sanctuary filled with love, laughter, and the irresistible aromas of her cooking and baking. She gifted her loved ones with legendary pound cakes and countless meals crafted with care. Beyond the kitchen, she was also a talented sewer and gardener, nurturing both her plants and relationships with equal attention and tenderness.
Those who knew Luvenia remember her as a very sweet lady who was always ready to lend a helping hand. She found joy in music, especially gospel tunes that stirred her soul. An avid bowler, she traveled with her bowling league, sharing camaraderie and creating cherished memories along the way.
Her family was the center of her world. She treasured her daughter Sherika King; her son Patrick King; stepdaughters Gwen Marlow and Darlene Clayton (Norman); stepson Alto Lee King Jr. (Terri); and her brother William Middlebrooks (Priscilla). Grandchildren McKenzie, Isaiah, Avery, Atoi, Alto Lee King III, Sister in Law Verlene Middlebrooks, and many others held a special place in her heart. Luvenia shared a deep bond with her niece Angela Morgan (Gaylon), as well as countless nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Though she is preceded in death by her beloved husband Alto Lee King Sr., her mother Willie C. Pryor, her father William Middlebrooks Sr., and several siblings, Luvenia’s memory lives on vibrantly among those who cherished her. She held a special fondness for her sister Dollie Jones whose memories she carried close.
The community is invited to honor Luvenia King’s life and legacy with visitation on March 23, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest Toledo, located at 4150 W Laskey Rd, Toledo, OH 43623.
