Louis J. Decker Sr. (affectionately known as Jr.), born on April 18, 1942, in Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, in Lambertville, Michigan. A dedicated family man, Louis was married to his devoted wife Judy for 60 years, a testament to their enduring love and partnership.
Louis professional journey began with his education at Woodward High School, which laid the groundwork for his future as a successful business owner. For over 50 years, he owned Lou Decker Shuffleboard and Gaming in Toledo, Ohio, where his commitment and hard work were evident in every aspect of the business.
Beyond his career, Louis served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. As a Military Policeman stationed in Okinawa, Japan, he exemplified dedication and discipline, earning several commendations including the Good Conduct Medal, Sharpshooter (Pistol & Carbine), and Marksman (Rifle) among others. He was honorably discharged on March 20, 1968, leaving behind a legacy of service that he carried into his civilian life.
Louis was known for his humor, hard work, and deep dedication to his family. He had a variety of interests, from fishing and shuffleboard to trips to Las Vegas, which brought him much joy throughout his life. One of his proudest accomplishments was building his home, a place filled with memories and love.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy; children, Louis and Valdetta (Todd) Perrine; and grandchildren, Louis, Ashley, Brittany, Ariel, Jacob, Michael, Joshua, and Jackson. Louis joyful spirit will be missed by his extended family and friends, who will carry his memory in their hearts.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Valdetta Decker; his son, Joseph Decker; his sisters, Nancy and Marigene; and his brother, George. The bonds he shared with his family and the values he instilled will echo through generations to come. His legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will forever remain in the lives he touched.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services held to commemorate his passing. Instead, those who were fortunate enough to know Louis are invited to remember him through their cherished memories and shared stories.
