Louella E. Strong, fondly known as Lou, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026, in Toledo, Ohio, at the age of 93. Born Louella E. Henry on November 14, 1932, in Tedrow, Ohio, Lou’s long and fulfilling life was marked by deep devotion to her family and a spirit that touched all who knew her.
Lou spent many productive years working at Ohio Gas Company, where her dedication and work ethic were highly regarded. However, her greatest role and source of pride was within her own family. She was a beloved wife to her late husband, Charles Strong, and mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother whose warmth and guidance shaped the lives of those around her.
Surviving Lou are her cherished children Mary Shoffer and husband Scott, Rob Strong and wife Dee, Ken Strong, Karen Walbolt and husband Mark, and Jeff Strong. Each of them, along with her grandchildren; Dan Strong, Micheal Strong, Ryan Coon, Jennifer Coon, Alan Walbolt, Marie Walbolt and Leslie Strong-Kachenmeister; great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews carry forward the legacy of love, wisdom, and caring that Lou so generously shared.
Beyond her commitment to family and career, Lou was a woman of many talents and interests. She delighted in sewing and needlepoint, losing herself in the creativity of these crafts. A voracious reader, Lou enjoyed the quiet company of a good book. She was also known for her enjoyment of cooking – her family will remember her best as the “best cook,” whose meals brought everyone together and whose kitchen was always filled with warmth and laughter. Lou also found simple joy in the anticipation and fun of playing the lottery.
Lou’s personality was bright and engaging. She was a spitfire, quick-witted and never afraid to share her thoughts. Whether sharing the latest gossip or teaching her family about train safety—a necessity given that she grew up living next to the train tracks—Lou was ever-present, always ready to do whatever she could for those around her. Her energy and selflessness left an indelible mark on her family and friends.
As her family and loved ones gather to remember Louella E. Strong, they reflect on a life defined by love, humor, and unwavering support. Her lessons, laughter, and legacy will be cherished and remembered always.
A Celebration of Life will be private to honor Lou’s life at a later time. Her memory will forever be treasured by all fortunate enough to have known her.
