Lorene Mason

Born Lorene Bobo, along with twin sister Corene, on July 29, 1931 in Jasper, Alabama. Lorene was a sister to brothers Clyde Jr., Isadore, and Robert and sisters Patsy Thompson, Corene Quarles, Emma Lou Hardaway, and Clara Harris. Lorene is survived by her eldest sister Bernice.

Lorene had seven children: Clarence Mitchell Bobo, Gloria Celestine (Thompson) Smith, Roy Clyde Thompson, Andre Lamont Mason, Richard Frank Mason, James Henry Mason, and David Allen Mason.

Lorene has a host of grandchildren: Keisha Smith O’Neal, Ingrid Smith, Raven Olgesby, Amy Taylor, Lorenzo Thompson, Mitchell Thompson, Nathalie Brown, Brittany Thompson, Brandon Thompson, Matthew Mason, Luke Mason, Danielle Mason, Royce Thompson

Great Grandchildren: Brittany O’Neal, Bria O’Neal, Imani Wright, Natasha Gordon, Kristian Gordon, Kaniyah Thompson, Anyiah Thompson, Milan Thompson, Lincoln Thompson, Jeremiah Thompson, Eli Thompson, Stephen Thompson, Violet Thompson, River Thompson, Kalii Thompson

Great-Great Grandchildren: Kaira Gipson, Michael O’Neal, London Phenix, Zahir Fields

There are so many others that she loved as her own. Her house was never too small and there was always a plate that could be made to make all feel welcomed and loved.

Lorene lived a life of service. After leaving Jasper she moved to Ohio where her sisters had relocated. She was a domestic worker for many families around the Toledo area during the week and businesses on the weekend. Lorene was well loved by the families she served, often becoming part of their families. She was also a hospice volunteer and wanted to become a Guardian Ad Litem for family court.

Family and friends will be received at the Newcomer Funeral Home (Southwest Chapel) 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo on Friday, September 19, 2025 from 10:00-11:00 AM. A service celebrating Lorene’s life will begin immediately after visitation at 11:00 AM.
