Lonnie Ray Johnson, 67, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away during the morning of Sunday, December 10, 2023.
He was born to the late Leonard Johnson and Mary (Cummins) Pack on July 14, 1956, in Ironton, Ohio. The family later moved to Toledo, where Lonnie fulfilled his formative years and established his roots. At the age of seven Lonnie began attending Toledo Baptist Temple. At the age of nine Lonnie accepted Christ as his personal savior.
He faithfully attended and served as part of the church, later renamed Wyldewood Baptist Church, for 60 years. Throughout the years he served as a bus captain in the church's bus ministry, worked diligently on the custodial staff, and loved worshipping in song as part of the choir. He considered the church to be his family.
Lonnie loved telling jokes, watching and talking about western movies, discussing politics, and listening to an eclectic variety of music. He was possessed of a servant's heart and a generous spirit.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ernest Johnson; and his sister, Beverly Mack.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon on Friday, December 15, 2023, at Wyldewood Baptist Church in Lambertville, Michigan. A memorial service will follow at noon. Following the service, Lonnie will be laid to rest at Toledo Memorial Park.
