Lisa Marie Bernath

September 21, 1987 — June 28, 2025

Sylvania, Ohio

Lisa Marie Bernath, a radiant beacon of joy and compassion, was born on September 21, 1987, in Toledo, Ohio. Tragically, her journey came to an untimely end on June 28, 2025. Lisa's essence will forever remain with those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Throughout her life, Lisa was a dedicated professional, working for fifteen years at Cribs to Crayons, where she profoundly influenced the lives of numerous children. Her interactions with the kids were filled with genuine care and warmth; her infectious smile could light up the darkest of rooms. Known affectionately as Miss Lisa, she became the heartbeat of the center, drawing children to her like moths to a flame, each eager for her attention and kindness.

Lisa graduated from Whiteford High School, class of 2006, and continued to spread her vibrant spirit in all that she did. Described as witty, outgoing, energetic, and wild, Lisa possessed an uncanny ability to forge connections with anyone she met. Her compassionate and understanding nature made her a cherished friend to many, embodying the kind of person we all aspire to be.

Lisa had a passion for adventure that extended beyond her work. She found joy in traveling, camping, and taking in the sun, capturing precious moments with her daughters, Jaylee and Adilyn. Her love for board games and movie nights with friends added layers to her rich tapestry of life. Lisa’s proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly her beloved daughters, who she adored and cherished, taking them on numerous adventures and instilling in them values of empathy, joy, and friendship.

Lisa is survived by her devoted mother, Cindy Valasek, and her two daughters, Jaylee and Adilyn Bernath. She leaves behind a loving uncle, Fr. Conrad Sutter OFM CONV, beloved aunts Mary Ann Sutter and Sister Jacinta SND, uncle Ed Forgette, as well as a host of extended family and friends who meant the world to her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Terry Forgette, and step-father, Dan Valasek, alongside her cherished grandmother, Virginia Sutter. Their spirits will surely embrace her as they reunite.

As we gather to honor Lisa’s remarkable life, we find solace in knowing that her light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to call her a friend, family member, or mentor. A visitation will be held on July 7, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at St. Martin de Porres Church in Toledo, Ohio, followed by a Mass at 10:30 AM and a burial at Resurrection Cemetery at 12:00 PM and a reception will follow the cemetery at United Building Trades Group, 4652 Lewis Ave, Toledo, OH 43612.
