Linda Mae Hinkle, born on August 5, 1947, in Bono, Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025. She was a remarkable woman whose spirit touched the lives of many through her warmth, humor, and unwavering strength.
Linda's life was characterized by her loving and caring nature, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She was known for her feisty personality, filled with a zest for life that was infectious. Her commitment to family was evident as she opened her home to countless nieces and nephews, showering them with unconditional love, particularly from her Garza side of the family. Linda shared a special bond with her best friend and daughter, Rita, and they were often seen together, inseparable in their laughter and support for one another.
She was an avid gardener, with a talent for growing an array of vegetables, flowers, and plants, creating beautiful spaces that reflected her nurturing spirit. A skilled cook and baker, Linda’s culinary talents brought joy to family gatherings and celebrations, where her delicious creations became a staple. Her love for bingo, casino outings, and picnics in the park showcased her playful side, while her fondness for "Old Time Country Music" filled her home with cherished memories.
Linda's adventurous spirit led her to embrace travel, particularly enjoying trips that allowed her to be near the water. One of her proudest moments was visiting her grandson Michael in San Diego—a trip that brought her immense joy. Additionally, Linda had a unique belief that when she transitioned, a butterfly would come to assure her family that she was "alright." This belief was a reflection of her positive mindset, full of forgiveness and the ability to persevere through challenges with grace.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James Hinkle; her mother, Vivian Perry; her father, Robert Perry; her sister, Susie Perry; and her brother, Leonard Perry.
Linda is lovingly remembered by her children, Robert Jr. (Suzie), Roger, Roy (Cheri), Rita (Rene), and Steve; her 16 grandchildren; and her 20 great-grandchildren, who all carry forward her legacy of love and kindness. She is also survived by four brothers and one sister, (Ex-husband, father of her children and greatest friend) Robert Garza Sr, along with a host of extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
Linda Mae Hinkle's life was a testament to love and resilience. Her memory will forever be cherished, and her spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her.
A special thank you to the nurses, and doctor's in the Intensive Care Unit at St. Anne's Hospital in Toledo, Ohio who took wonderful care of Linda.
