Linda Jean Bourn, a beloved member of her community and devoted family matriarch, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025, in Toledo, Ohio. Born on November 30, 1948, in Toledo, Linda dedicated her life to serving others and cherished the moments spent with her family and friends.
Linda enjoyed a fulfilling career, beginning as a Unit Clerk at Toledo Hospital before retiring from the United States Postal Service, where she served as a clerk. Her commitment to her work was matched only by her love for her family.
An alumna of Pickett Elementary, Robinson Junior High, Scott and Rogers High Schools, and Mercy College, Linda was a lifelong learner who instilled the value of education in her children.
In her free time, Linda found joy in simple pleasures. She loved to play Bingo Blitz on her phone, often challenging her friends and relatives to friendly competitions. Gardening brought her tranquility and satisfaction as she nurtured her plants to bloom. She shared a special bond with her little dog, Chico, who brought endless joy and companionship into her life.
Linda is survived by her three children, Stephen Bruce Bourn Jr., Michael Anthony Bourn, and Jada Lynne Reese. She also leaves behind her siblings, Silas Ray Smith and Tammy Smith, along with her cherished grandchildren: Mercedes Drayton, MaShalla Bourn, JaVion Johnson, Jaden Johnson, Michael Bourn Jr., Juda Johnson, Jazzerae Johnson, and Jonah Johnson. Her legacy of love extends to her great-grandchildren, Alyesia Drayton-Fuehr, Julian Morgan, Jonathan Morgan, and Ni'Yanni Cunningham.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, L.C. Smith Sr. and Tommie Lee (Reese) Smith, and her beloved husband, Stephen Bruce Bourn. She was also welcomed into eternal rest by her siblings, Helen L. Smith-Tyler, Darlene Maulsby, L.C. Smith Jr., and Harry L. Smith, as well as her granddaughter, My'Yanna Bourn.
Her spirit and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew her, leaving a void that can never be filled. Linda Jean Bourn's life was one marked by love, commitment, and community, and she will forever be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family and friends.
The family will receive guests on Friday, August 22, 2025 from 11:00 am until the start of the Funeral Service at 12:00 pm at The Fresh Wind Church, 1421 S. Cove Blvd, Toledo. Burial will immediately follow at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
