Kathy Hillard, affectionately known as “Kathy Kat”, graced the world with her vibrant spirit from June 1, 1949, until her passing on January 15, 2026. Born in Toledo, Ohio, Kathy was a devoted homemaker who embraced every aspect of her life with love and compassion. A proud graduate of Libbey High School, Class of 1968, she carried the wisdom of her early years into a life rich with family, friendship, and adventure.
Kathy’s life was guided by her deep faith and unwavering devotion to God. She found strength, comfort, and purpose in her relationship with the Lord, and her faith shaped the way she loved, cared for, and uplifted those around her. Her spiritual foundation was a source of peace not only for herself but for all who were blessed by her presence.
Kathy shared a beautiful, lasting bond with her beloved husband, Howard Hillard Jr., whom she cherished for 30 incredible years. Together, they created a treasure trove of memories through countless vacations and trips, exploring destinations around the globe, from the pink sands of Bermuda to the stunning vistas of Alaska. Kathy’s adventurous spirit was complemented by her love of nature; she found joy and tranquility within its embrace. An outgoing personality, she loved to talk, making new friends wherever she went, proving that she never knew a stranger. Kathy also had a strong joy in collecting and filling her home with angel and owl figurines.
As a mother, Kathy poured her heart into her children: Paul (Rebecca) Bagrowski, Brian Hillard, and Angela (Joe) Good. She relished her role as a grandmother, adoring her grandchildren Jaidan, Joey, and Evelyn, who brought her endless joy and pride. Kathy also leaves behind her beloved brother, James Rolen, and her great-niece, Lilee Rolen, along with many other loving nieces, nephews, and friends who were fortunate to know her gentle spirit and kind heart.
A true embodiment of kindness and thoughtfulness, Kathy’s love extended beyond her immediate family. She was known for her baking talent, often whipping up delicious treats, including the remarkable seven pies and desserts she made each holiday season to share with friends and neighbors. Her prized vegetable garden, filled with vibrant plants and flowers, was just one of her many passions. In her free time, Kathy found joy in crafting, shopping, and showering her loved ones with thoughtful gifts.
Though she is preceded in death by her father, Troy Rolen I, her mother, Geraldine Rolen (nee Duncan), and brothers Troy Rolen II, Jackie Rolen, and Terry Rolen, Kathy's legacy of love, warmth, and cherished memories will remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
Kathy Hillard’s life was a beautiful collection of moments filled with affection and laughter, reminding those who loved her of the importance of connection, adventure, and embracing every opportunity to live life fully. She will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will forever shine brightly in the memories of those who continue to celebrate her remarkable journey.
