Lee Anthony "Tony" Thompson, a devoted family man, respected tradesman, and beloved jokester, passed away on April 9, 2026, in Sylvania, Ohio. Born on December 31, 1965, Tony’s life was marked by hard work, dedication to his craft, and an enduring commitment to the people he loved.

Tony graduated from Whiteford High School in the class of 1983, following a proud family tradition as he stepped into the sheet metal trade, just as his father and grandfathers had before him. His career was one of distinction—he was a Journeyman, Foreman, and Superintendent, known across Northwest Ohio and Southern Michigan for his exemplary skill and leadership. As a proud member of the local 33 union, Tony endeared himself to countless crew members who cherished working under his guidance. Many young apprentices were fortunate to learn from a man who held his trade with honor and took great pride in passing on his knowledge.

He was much more than a master of his trade; Tony was a man who loved to make people laugh, a true jokester with a warm heart and a headstrong spirit. Those closest to him knew him as a man who was set in his ways but never hesitated to pour his energy into work and family alike. After long, laborious days, Tony found solace in his garden and kitchen, tending to his cherished Suzy Rose' strain of herbs and delighting in cooking meals that brought comfort and joy to his home. Gardening was not just a pastime—it was his way to unwind, relax, and nurture life, a legacy he shared lovingly with his son Casey, who fondly remembers the time they spent cultivating the earth together.

In the later years of his life, Tony’s greatest joy came from being with his grandchildren, sisters, parents, and his partner, Lori Whitehurst. Family was the foundation upon which he built his world. He is lovingly survived by his son, Casey Thompson; daughter, Emily Ayers and her husband Zackery; partner Lori Whitehurst; mother Suzanne Thompson; father Donald Thompson; sisters Kelly O'Brien and her husband Patrick, and Robin Bovia-Peters; as well as his grandchildren Elouise Ayers, Casimeir Overstreet-Williams, Carenzo Overstreet-Thompson, and Josohn Overstreet-Thompson. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts and numerous friends who will forever treasure his memory.

Tony’s siblings remember his youthful shenanigans with affection and laughter, a testament to the vibrant personality that defined him from his earliest days. While he leaves behind many living family members who will carry his spirit forward, he joins in rest his grandparents Clarence and Susan Thompson and Harry and Mary Alice Hummel, whose legacies also shaped the man he became.

The community will gather to honor Tony’s life during a visitation on April 22, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest Toledo, located at 4150 W Laskey Rd, Toledo, OH 43623. Tony Thompson’s story is one of unyielding strength, humor, devotion, and love—threads woven together to create a legacy that will continue to inspire all who were lucky enough to know him. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who loved him.
