Lee Claiborne Rankin Sr., of Toledo, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on October 27, 2026. Born April 13, 1971, to Carolyn and Charlie W. Rankin.
A DeVilbiss High School graduate, Class of 1989, he enlisted in the United States Army Reserve in July 1989, serving his country with dedication.
After several careers, Lee found his calling in 2007: barbering. Skilled and warm, he became a well-known and respected barber at Blendz Barbershop in Toledo, where his chair was a place for conversation, laughter, and connection.
A die-hard San Francisco 49ers fan, he wore his team proudly and never missed a chance to chant, "Bang Bang 49ers!" He loved bowling and Keno, and was known for his quick wit, infectious humor, and unmistakable personality.
Preceded in death by his father, Charlie W. Rankin, and his best friend, Cameron Smith. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Carolyn Rankin; his children, daughter Reyonna Sudduth (Christopher Mareko) of Anchorage, Alaska, daughter Miracle Wormley, and sons James Chestnutt and Lee C. Rankin Jr.; grandchildren Zayden Martin, Honesty Sudduth of Anchorage, Alaska, and Logan Chestnutt of Texas.; his sisters, LaRhonda (William “Bill”) McCoy, Jonelle (Gregory) Davis of Columbus, Ohio, and Charlisha Rankin of Dayton, Ohio; his special friend, Ka'Trice Perry; his brothers in life, Harold Banker, David "Toot" Smith Jr. and Donnell Rhodes; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
Lee will be deeply missed, but his legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave.
"Once a 49ers fan, always a 49ers fan — Bang Bang Lee!"
