Lee "Ed" Alexander Sr., a dedicated iron worker and founding member of a renowned recovery program, passed away on May 26, 2026, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Born on December 17, 1944, in Gallipolis, Ohio, Ed lived a life marked by commitment to his craft and community.

Ed was a roofer and ran his own roofing company, where he was thorough in his work and was a very resourceful person. Ed’s career continued and spanned more than two decades as an iron worker with Local 55, where he took immense pride in his work. He was employed for many years at Autolite in Fostoria, Ohio. A graduate of Scott High School, Ed carried the values of hard work and dedication throughout his professional journey. Beyond his trade, he managed Idle Time Club for 15 years before going to Step One Club, where he was a founding member, through which he made significant contributions for over 30 years. His steadfast involvement in this program stands as one of his proudest accomplishments and reflects his deep commitment to his personal growth.

Ed is survived by his children Laura (Tracy) Gomoll, Lee (Lynn Dee) Alexander Jr., Carl (Melanie) Alexander Sr., Randy Engelhardt, Charles (Evelyn) Engelhardt, and Charlotte (T.J.) Easterling. He also leaves behind his sister, Reba Joann Allen, along with 32 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl Alexander and Bertha Wood; his former wife Elizabeth Alexander; son Michael Alexander; and siblings Betty Gunter, Sarah Johnson, Flora Bronikowski, Evie Siminiak, Bertha Carol Brown, Sylvia Johnson, Carl Alexander, and Mary Lou Wright.

Services for Ed will begin with a visitation held on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, West Sylvania, located at 3655 King Road, Toledo, Ohio. A second visitation will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Swanton, Ohio. A Mass honoring his life will follow on the same day at 10:30 AM, also at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, located at 2649 US-20, Swanton. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Toledo. Memorial donations in Ed's memory may be made to Alano Step One Club, 2434 W. Sylvania Ave, Toledo, Ohio 43613.
